Over the last week we have installed one of the best Chat programs available. 123FlashChat.

This is a realtime program and is full of features.

If you are logged into the BBS as a user you will have access to The Channel. The Channel is for registered users only.

There are several default rooms setup right now. If you would like a room set up for you please contact me and I will set it up. You can have a private room or public, it is your choice.

You will see at the bottom of the bulletin board an addition box that shows the activity on The Channel.

The Chat button is on top. Just click and find a room to hang in.

If you decide to direct link to the Channel you will have to use your username and pass that you use here.

Lets follow the same rules we use here on the BBS and enjoy!!

At this point I only have this setup on the graphite style

See ya on THE CHANNEL

I'm logged into the BBS. No button to enter "The Channel".
If I log out "Chat" button appears on top of main page.

The Channel is the name of the chat module Pete.  Just click on chat. If you are in the user database you won't have to login into the chat . You will be already logged in.

Sorry about that Pete . you must be in the graphite style. I have not had time to modify  Black Soul or classic.

It is on top with the buttons

OK, one of those unwritten rules. I changed to graphite. Here's another problem. As I write this message, almost half of the "Post a reply" screen is filled with the Emoticons section (including the ones that are animated). Any way to minimize or reduce size of this section. One, I don't use them and two, when posting a reply, they're annoying while you're trying to write.

UPDATE:

All three templates/Styles are now modified. You will find a chat button on each style and an activity box at the bottom of each styles page.

Check it out

Guys,

The best 'chat' room now (free) is the PMR466_eQSO now established. You can be full duplex, digital audio, and 'talk' anywhere in the world just using your computer (to just one person or as many can fit into the chat room). Simple: Just load the PMR466 software, and use your 'mouse' to PTT and your "on-the-air"...it's the only way to go and its all FREE! Anyone wanting a copy of the software just email and I will forward. 73's Bill WA4DDH

Hi Bill

Very interesting. I checked the program out and it is not bad. But the audio bandwidth is poor.

I installed the flash chat because it does not require a "client " download which attaches cookies and spyware to ones computer. I have also found that the programs that require client software also require system resources to do the work . These resources vary and can cause problems for those on dial up and slow connections/or processors especially as the amount of users grow in the room.

Using flash also allows multiplatform communications between, Mac. linux and windows. I noticed that the Eqso is for windows only.

We currently have full duplex channels in operation and also full mp3 codec audio channels in Stereo. These are all done in flash and do not require a download of someones software to use. We have been testing these over the last couple weeks along with full streaming video channels. These will be available for the users of the BBS in the next few weeks. (free)

I am sorry if the money and the program I installed does not meet your expectations.

Of course none of the above was free to me but is to the users.

THanks for your input.
