Just received my first Valiant.  It is fairly rough, with some mods.  But there are clues...  Besides undoing the mods there is a lot of cleanup and and the usual cap replacement to do etc.
Lot's of info on this site.

Perhaps some of these pictures will mean something to you all.  Anyone have a copy of the August 1960 QST?

Yes, reconnecting the phone patch wire for AM patches would be my first priority....  Wink

Should be a nice rig when you get it finished up.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

Dante, "The Inferno"…

"Through me you go to the grief wracked city; Through me you go to everlasting pain; Through me you go a pass among lost souls. Justice inspired my exalted Creator: I am a creature of the Holiest Power, of Wisdom in the Highest and of Primal Love. Nothing till I was made was made, only eternal beings. And I endure eternally. Abandon all hope — Ye Who Enter Here."

Ha!  I think you nailed it.

Thanks for the insight on the bias pots.

I am not an ARRL member so will have to proceed without the article.

At least you have documentation to follow which is a far cry from many modified rigs floating around.  I bet someone will be able to tell you the contents of that article.

Joining the ARRL will get you all the issues to way back when. Probably for Less than the cost of your yearly stamps.

Might help save some freqs. and other odds and ends too.
