FM alignment w/sweep

How much signal should I use when doing an FM alignment with a sweep gen?  In this case, it is a SX-62.  Should the ALC kick in?  Should I disconnect the ALC?

 Hey Tom,

   FM detectors are hard to overload, I would hit it
with whatever amount gives you a good response
on your scope. Even if your getting square waves
out of the last IF the detector won't care. It's
not supposed to respond to amplitude.

FM usually has a signal strength meter but AGC is not really necessary. When you get into the limiters, usually a chain of IF stages each with lots of gain, having the one you are tuning driven so as not to be in the limiting mode lets you be more precise. But don't tune the chain so sharply you kill off the necessary bandwidth. That is more of an issue on entertainment FM receivers. Really each set is different. Does the manual have a procedure?
