I had a nice chat with Robert W0VMC on 21.430 today. He was booming in with a steady signal hovering around S-9 plus 20dB and rising to as high as +40dB. Robert was running his 4-1000 modulated by a pair of 3-500's and I was astounded by the amazing brickwall filtering on his signal. I'm not sure I've ever seen a plate modulated rig that was as neighborly as his! The picture below only hints at how sharp the filtering is. There were times when I saw the edge of the signal rise in a straight line to the +40 dB mark with no energy appearing outside of the intended bandpass. Amazing.

One thing I'm certain of is that there is too much certainty in the world.
