So I thought the B&W 80 JVL coil plugged in to an 807 socket. No, thats what I get for assuming.  What socket do I need?
Thanks

The big pin receiving tubes had from 4 to 7 pins, take your pick as they are readily available.

Bob,

I'm pretty sure that a JVL coil will plug into an 807 socket. Are you sure you have an 807 socket? Or perhaps the coil was modified somewhere along the way. Maybe you could post a pic of the coil base.

Ron, you are absolutely right, I had some odd ball tube socket from some salvage I bought at a ham fest. The coil was NOS, so I expected it was okay.  I tried it tonight with a "real" 807 socket, and of course it fit like a glove.  Now I can build my "front end" thanks Ron.
