" thousands of women typing "stuff". "

Well, the 2nd WW liberated thousands of men. Before the war, men were rarely allowed to do filing, clerking and typing. The shortage of women at the various war fronts, particularly the Pacific, allowed men to do all these things.

It was only the shortage of silk and nylon that prevented men from wearing hose. It took another pioneer, the man known as "Broadway Joe", to break this barrier. Such were they that pioneered the movement. A case in point, Rosie Greer.  A man before his time.

We have come a long way.
