Howdy Y'all,

Does anyone have any information on this Chicago Driver Transformer, P/N 14424?
I have scrubbed the web with no results.
Here are a few pics...

Thanks,

Apparently that question came up before but it does not look like it was resolved. Perhaps you can contact the original poster.

That looks like a Gates part #. See if anyone has the BC1-F parts list or schematic.
Probably from around that period or earlier. Driver for a pair of 845s.

when it rains.. I got the same type 14424 transformer handed to me today. It seems like it's enough to drive 833s and more, but still no new search provides any answer.

5 digit part numbers are specials, meaning not regular catalog models.  Xfmr was made for a specific xmtr.  You have the turns ratio stamped on the nameplate.  That's all you really need to know.  The ratio of driver xfmrs are usually stated as primary to 1/2 secondary.  The xfmr looks big enough to handle some power,  probably more than you'll need for amateur service.

I'd tend to agree on the power rating. It's about the same physical size as a CG-512 a 40W class b driver unit.

Not for 3-500Zs then.  8-(  -probably never find a purpose made driver for those. I'm starting to wonder if any piece of gear ever used 3-500Zs for audio with transformer coupled grids.

On the bright side - good to know what it is for. Somehow I'm not surprised at who knew the real application data!  8-)
