If he doesn't waste his time on idiotic topics such as "rf exposure," I'll be happy.

I think RH has mostly been on good terms with AMers.

I worked him about 6 years ago on "GASP"... Side Band. (at least is was with a vintage Drake TR-4). I was calling CQ in the area of 3.900 and he came back to me.. Nothing too outstanding other then he did note the vintage rig and if I recall, he was running a Hallicrafter SSB transmitter.. Steve W1TAV

He also attended one of Frank's parties after the Timonium hamfest. For some reason, I couldn't find the full shot but I think it's somewhere here on the forum.

So I haven't heard anything lately about our new enforcer Lady Laura.  I recall all sorts of buzz when she first took the reins and actions taken.  Is this still true?

I'd like to see a Riley advice column, sort of like an Ann Landers thing.

Hey Riley! Doesn't the "sufficient power to maintain reliable communications" clause conflict with the 1500W PEP rule?  Grin

Craig,

What kind of action are you looking for, and against what and/or whom?

Raids, garbage gear hauled out to the street and smashed, illegal slopbucket QRMers in shackles perp walked, and locked up in supermax pending trial.  that would be okay for a start.

I couldn't care less about chicken band or enforcement of chicken band rules, beyond interlopers that squat on 10m and other amateur frequencies.

I want to see a crack-down on power line noise and the illegal importation of RFI generators, such as consumer junk with the rfi filter components deliberately left off the circuit board. Also plasma TV RFI, touch lamps, and other garbage. I recall Laura's speech at a Dayton FCC forum promising to make power line noise a priority. Not sure if anything has materialised.

As far as amateur radio goes, I'm all for enforcement against the most blatant cases of deliberate interference, but as far as the rest, I wouldn't advocate the FCC getting too involved in day-to-day operation or trying to micromanage the ARS.  We just might get what we asked for and not like what we get.

Another area  that needs some work is the fraudulent hoarding of preferred 1 X 2 call signs by individuals who set themselves up as "clubs".  I read somewhere recently that some people are  holding a  half dozen or more  such calls, even after the FCC claimed to have cleaned up the matter.

I have about as much interest in the ongoing saga of repeater shenanigans as I do in chicken band.
