20 meters has been staying open later in the evening and should remain this way through the summer.  Support 20 meter AM!!

20 meters seems wimpy here in the Northeast right now. 40 meters seems to be where all the action is happening.

40 meters AM in the evening (after dark before midnight) is not for the fainthearted!  Finding a clearing then finding someone attracted to the AM signal is NOT easy!

Oh I hope this noise floor is temporary... anyone else hearing it?  Nevertheless, I'm throwing occasional AM CQ's out there!

Last night (7:30 to 8:00 PM CST) I talked with Phil AC0OB in Ceder Rapids, Iowa on 14286. We talked for over 30 minutes and conditions were pretty good. No other AM'ers heard.

That was a FB QSO Jim.

I was on my Icom 706 feeding the Henry 2K-4 running about 250 Watts carrier into a 33' vertical S9.

As I said last night, I intend to run the Viking I on 20 meters using the 7.143 Mhz crystal.

I did a 75m test with a local ham Tuesday afternoon using the 3.885 crystal and he said the audio sounded very natural, which is what I was looking for.

Early afternoon today I heard AB2KC and K0EOO talking on 14286. Both were loud here into southern TN.

Dennis K0EOO was quite loud into CT at around 2030 UTC as he was chatting with Chuck K1KW. Unfortunately, there was a persistent operator who insisted on tuning up about 1.5 kc above his carrier, and of course there were the usual sideband operators repeatedly asking if the frequency was in use. I caught about 30 seconds of him in the clear which is captured in the mp3 file. Pretty decent conditions today!
