Looking at these tube prices in 1936, the current price of a 500 watt plate dissipation 3-500Z in 2012 dollars doesn't seem so expensive.

Yeah, but the 1972 Heath replacement parts list for the SB-220 has the 3-500Z at $34 and the plate transformer at $29.70 Angry

I think they were up to $36 in the parts list when I built my SB-220 in 1976.  I would be very happy to buy a few at that price today.

But adjusted for inflation I guess it isn't too bad.  Maybe Harbor Freight will start selling them soon Smiley
