Some good AM going on this afternoon on 7145. from buffalo. he was S 9 here but i couldnt raise him. I will try at 5 pm of your around and there is a window. I have some rocks coming. 3705 and 7290. I am showing about 25 watts out on the meter on Am . Tomorrow I will recheck all the antennas. I tried my Stark sig gen but I got a lot of real bad hum and was afraid to put it on air. I have an Eico sig gen as well. If I am not happy with the just a half dozen rocks I will build a VFO for it. However if I have a place where I can go whereAM is normally used  I think I will be happy. Stilll working on my homebrew rigs as well.

Tim Thanks for the tune proceedure. I was a bit light on the drive. Figured if I centred it on the meter I shouldnt get in trouble. I missed you yesterday but am around today. I will try on the half hours.

Thanks Tim,
It was a blast. I have ordered and am waiting their arrival a 7290 rock and a 3705. I tried the 7050 after the QSo but I had to find which position it was at. There is also a 3750. I also have 3680, and a 3736, also 7775 but they are big ole ones so I will have to make adapter but I have done similar stuff before. I should have a 7120 for Sunday afternoons and probably one other one where you hang out on 80M. That will keep my hand in while I continue my homebrews. Homebrew is really where my heart is. My homebrew transceiver is not really a whole lot less suds on AM then the DX60B. About 1/2 when running through the amp. I think, in fact, I know I had a huge antenna problem and sorted through it this morning. That may make it viable again.
Anyway I am good to go now. My homebrew has a vfo and is very stable. The circuit is not a whole lot removed from the Dx60B. It just uses lower power tubes and lacks one stage of audio but since it uses a carbon mic circuit that is normal to drop the preamp. I also have another built and in the final stages of development. It is also a vfo and is a 5 tube rig. (6sa7, two6ag7s, 6sl7 and a 6L6 final) Time will tell how it works . Meanwhile I am grateful for you and the group taking the time to verify my signal. I should have my good crystals by friday.

..don..hope you received the rocks...if you wanna try ANY freq., let me know...i'll spread the word, to the lads...the only problem is, the killer sigs on 7290/95...jim, ve3brl is in mississauga, and has been on during the week, around noon on 7290...i'm calling cq at 3pm today, and likely sunday on 7120..as always, on 3725 in the mornings around 9am...

..see ya..

Hey I finally got to work someone on 7.290 again!!  It's usually so full of the "no-traffic" net or b.c. stations that it's rare that I try but this afternoon I heard it clear so I tuned up and threw a call out there and back came KF5MWE, Gary in MS.  We carried on until the band went long then I switched down to 7.160 which was clear and called CQ and back came KD6OS, Ralph.

SO much fun and great QSO's!!!

I didnt get my rocks but I wll give it a shot with the homebrew rig tomorrow on 7120. I would like to see how it works downstairs. The rocks left Florida feb 23 so as luck would have it will probably show up AFTER the weekend!

SUN
I will try with the homebrew first (today Sunday afternoon) till about 2:30 to 3pm then if I come up dry on 7120 I will move to my 7145 rock upstairs. I feel guilty being so rock bound. but that will improve next week and when I build my VFO it wll be a memory. I will just duplicate the old heathkit VFO circit since I have most of what I need here and the PS output is supplied from the DX60B out the back. 1 tube some caps and resistors  and a coil. Then I will feel honest as I will have built some of it.
