Standby for flavorful CW...

Dig out that classic homebrew 6L6 or vintage or surplus set from the closet and make a few Q's in The AWA contest this week. The first session is Wednesday Jan 18th at 2300 GMT for a 24 hour session though Thursday and the second is Saturday Jan 21st starting at 2300 GMT and going though Sunday. Contest designed to favor those using low power and equipment constructed before 1950 with straight keys or bugs. Homebrew equipment built after the designs of the period are also eligible. But, all are welcome. High scorers should send in full details on equipment and station photos.

Objective: Contact the greatest number of AWA members or participating stations using pre-1950 gear. When calling use “AWA AWA de WA3FFC” for example. Upon contact, exchange signal report, the year of equipment design such as “TX36” for a 1936 transmitter and “RX 34” for a 1934 receiver. Send “MOD” for modern (after 1950) gear. And finally send your Input Power such as “10W”; Name and State, Province or Country.
Frequencies: 1800-1820, 3550– 3580, 7030-7050, and 14060-14070 kHz +/- QRM Concentrate 20 and 160 meter contacts on the hour.
