Hello AM Lovers,

Yesterday I heard Steve and Todd on 3710 khz.
Signals good, but plenty splattering by ssb...

This morning I heard AM from the USA on 3875 & 3885 khz.
Till +/- 08.00, in the morning by me, I heard some talking on 3875.
But weak signals, not possible for me to copy calls or names..
And till +/- 09.00!!!! I heard AM on 3885!
One station talks very long.... I say he is 'a-long-talker'! Grin
His transmission were between 08.45 - +/- 08.55!
I could hear not all from him, but he talks about: modulation.
Perhaps this person reading this and can tell who he was...
I guess Don, because his voice souding like him (k4kyv).

This morning no am from the USA between 3705 - 3710.
On 3710 I heard: F6AQK, 9H1ES and another French station.
But, again!, many ssb on above freq.

Good DX,

WA1QIX was BOOMING into Athens at S9 this AM, talking to W4AMV(?) whose carrier just locked in the sync detector but I couldn't copy any audio.  Also some other weak carriers up to 3885 but too much bass in the audio to pull it out.  CHU on 3330 was about S-6 this AM; usually it's S1 to S3 so I figured it would be a good morning to hear the US.

I heard some AM stations around 3875-3885, seemed to be some kind of a dustup with some adjacent slopbucket stations.  Lots of fading and I didn't copy any calls, but CHU was strong again this AM.  I'm also an hour ahead of you and quite a bit south, so the band closes in Athens before it closes for you - and it's probably another 1200 KM on the path.

Much less noise on the morning of 29 Dec 11. Here's a short clip of F6AQK signing off at about 0530Z on 3710 kHz.

His name and call unknow for me, but he had a good signal! Smiley

I heard him talking about some antenna's.
He were changing during his transmission his antenna.
I heard him talking about 'a 160 mtrs dipole'?
He changed, but I saw no difference on my S meter.

I am going to fire up my AM rig this afternoon. All 9 watts! I will try 3705 and 3710. Probably around 3 PM EST (1500 uhr) by the time I get it on freq and my tx and rec antenna hooked up. I am going to run it without the Ant tuner as it is downstairs used on another project. (1 tube CW transceiver )

I heard the European AM'ers last Friday while visiting my friend K4ESE.  Neil, lives in North Carolina and has a "four square" array up on this band.  Signals  were pretty good copy especially the French station.  I didn't get the call signs as we were busy exchanging old ham radio stories and not listening very closely.

I have a two element vertical up on the band.  Hopefully I can make a trans-Atlantic QSO some time this winter.

Hello AM Lovers,

This morning 'strange' conditions on 80 mtrs. Smiley

On 3707 I heard:
- 9H1ES, Fortunato with 'poor' signal, S2
- F6AQK, Jean with 'weak' signal, S4

But on +/- 3882 khz I heard:
- WA1QIX, Steve?, with 'big' signal, max. S9+5
He has a long transmission, talking & talking.
Sorry I could not heard the other station(s)....

Greetings,

Henk, PE1MPH
