Since 40M is so busy with ducks and broadcasters I reworked the tank circuit on the homebrew transceiver to reach down to 80 and 75 . I was sitting here tonite rading the mail on 3874 (still am) I tried a couple of times after 8 PM But didnt have the suds for the job. I am only showing 5 watts on the meter output. PS is only giving 267 volts. I have a 500 volt supply but need a choke which is on the way.
Anyway If it is really quiet I will give it a shot again.

Keep on plugging!! I am hoping to get my Gates set up in the den and get on 160m. 1885 and 1985 are the two crystals I have. On 80/75, I have a Viking I. Got to get some antennas up soon.

4 to 5PM will be the best time on that band. Later is very noisy for the most part. Takes a lot of RF to be heard due to poor operator practices.

OK. Thanks. I am tuned up ready to go. It wont be no studio quality audio sonce I am usung a N03 Hand WWII military carbon mike.
I have been toying with building a 160 rig too. I have  lot of electric fencing here no longer being used. I should be able to spend and afternoon soldering all twisted joints and checking all is insulated and in the clear and feed it as a beverage ant.

The band is really noisy here today. I just checked and can just hear someone (probably you) in there. I doubt I have enuf soup to bust above the noise. I will wait for a quieter day.  Thanks though.
