I can jump a Yaesu FT 817 that can do AM. On these Sept 4th jumps we are concentrating on ATV and will only be doing 2M voice comms, but if anyone is within a hundred miles of Byron CA and has 2M AM capability we can do a QSO. I'll be jumping from 13,500 ft and deploying my canopy at about 12,000 ft to get a lot of hang time for QSOs.

We are working on jumpable HF setups and have flown a 20M PSK 31 beacon. One of these days we will have the capability for an AM phone QSO on HF. For HF we use end fed trailing wire dipoles that are disconnected and jettisoned at about 1000 ft for a snag free landing approach.

We post jump times on Twitter, see the website. It's hard to get precise scheduling as the DZ understandably gives loading priority to tandem jumpers who pay $200. We pay $20 and kinda act as filler or ballast.
