I was off from work yesterday because of the blizzard so I decided to try 20 meter AM.
Linn, K7 Kitty Cat (Sandy Utah) and I had a great QSO on 14.188 Mhz yesterday afternoon. Linn's Viking Valiant was putting out a solid carrier and good audio.

I just heard WA1HLR here in Lincoln CA (Sacramento area). (16:19 PST)
Using about 70 ft of wire along the top of a 5" 6" high wood fence and an ICOM-718 receiver.
Copyable but very weak.
I will have a decent 20 meter dipole up soon and I'm now more motivated as there appears to be at least a few AM stations to talk to on 20.
I have to deal with CC&Rs that prohibit any kind of antenna that can be seen from the street or houses on either side. But I can run a 20 Meters dipole along the eves of the house and still comply.

Alright! After you get your dipole working, you might consider adding a loop just under the eaves. If anyone asks, tell them you are getting ready for next Xmas.  |

I'll try to load up my IC-718 on my brain dead antenna this afternoon only 14.286 and give you a call or try calling CQ.
Unlikely to work with my antenna and on 20 watts, but I'll never know if I don't try.

Parked on 14.286 now. Just had an AM QSO with a gentleman in Tucson on another 20m freq, figured I'd park here and see if there where any takers.

Pete..Glad you could hear us...
Condx were OK yesterday...QSB, but got better later in the afternoon...Brian in the Yukon,(Canada) and I usually have a good path after 1900 Z..I've worked Tim a couple times this month and Shane is usually strong here.....14.286 and the freqs around it are usually busy with net or group activity being heard here in the west until 1900-2000 Z daily...So I usually monitor and call CQ in the afternoons...I try to get on 2 or 3 times a week....
