Well I kicked off the Fall season with a project that I hope to get into Electric Radio as an article soon. It is a two tube regen for 40 Meters and is it a blast to use. I just worked a guy in Washington state. The bandspread is awesome and the tuning accuracy is very good. This was a hard project compared to the 80 meter job that I did a few years ago. It is amazing how much harder it is to get real stability on a regen on 40M compared to 80M.

Mike,
Congratulations for doing a superb job with the 40 M regen. I like the panel symmetry and overall layout. I am sure you will have a blast using it.
You need to hook up with Bill Hurni, W3HWT. He is the regen guru in my opinion and has researched and ultimately developed some superb sets. I am sure you and he would have some good conversation on the subject. Bob Thomas, W3NE has put together a very nice Bibliography which I am attaching for reference.
I can't wait to see your article in ER.

Mike,
That is a very nice looking receiver and I look forward to reading your ER article. Are you planning to discuss both your 40 and 80 meter receivers in the article? The differences you found in achieving stability on 80 versus 40 would be an interesting part of the article.
One thing I learned from experience about mechanical stability is that those side panels which bolt to the chassis and support the sides of the front panel (found on most of the big vintage Halli receivers for example) really do a great job of both supporting the panel and stiffening the entire chassis.
Now that you have an 80 and 40 meter regen are you going to do more bands? Maybe a rack of single band regen tuners fed from a common regulated power supply and using a common audio output stage? You could have the receive version of those single band 813 amps popular in the 60's.
