A buddy is looking for one of these critters to run CW and AM when he gets his General. I think a later Ranger I, after timed-sequence keying was added, would be perfect for him, but an earlier Ranger, a Ranger II, or a Viking with EFJ vfo would be fine, too.
Any leads I can pass on to him? His budget is tight, but he's a realist. He'd rather have a rig with a few scrapes and dings that works well than a "collector quality" unit that breaks the bank.
