Fantastic news.  Made my day... Let's just hope that the diagnosis is the correct one this time.  And be thankful they didn't discover the result after blasting another hole through the skull.

Time for a collective cheer!

Derb, you sounded great on the phone the other day.

I am so glad it wasn't what was orginally thought to be.

Keep up the good work!

I just got off of the telefonium with him in the horsepistol. He seems in quite good spirits and gave me some fantastic news. He has told me that his cancer doctor has officially declared his cancer in remission!!

He now has to deal with the side effects of all of the meds that he has been on for the last 4 years. The biggest one is the osteoporosis from all of the steroids he has been on. With his ankle shattered he may still end up being in there for a few months till it heals.

He has told me that they are allready working on refiguring his meds to deal with this.

The BJB WILL ride again! !

Got to this thread late, what with things going on here.  Good to hear that the cancer is in remission; but it's a bummer about the broken ankle.

All the best for a speedy recovery, Tim.  Wink

Hi everyone! Glo here again....

I figured I`m somewhat past due for an update on Tim, so here goes.......

Tim is now back in Charles Town, only 10 minutes from here in a nursing/rehab home called Willow Tree Manor. We all thought the move back to his hometown would lift his spirits, and it did, but only at first. He has been here for 2 weeks now, and he is very depressed because he still is unable to stand on his own. Pretty much any strength he did possess went right out the window in the 2 weeks following surgery, and now he can only get out of bed and into a wheelchair with  the aid of sliding board transfers or a special lift and sling. On the bright side, however, he has lost about 30 lbs.!  YEAY!!!!  Cheesy

He has no access to a computer (and won`t until he comes home), so I figured I would throw this out there for all of you guys who wanted to "surprise" him.....  he has been VERY depressed not only by his situation, but by his surroundings, since the home he is in is primarily a nursing home filled with some very sad looking people. He is not progressing the way that his PT`s are hoping he would be by now, and after I visited him yesterday, he phoned me and had a breakdown (one of many), pretty much consisting of why me, I want to go home,, and some other whinings which I have no answer for now or in the entire month since this has happened.

Long story short, we had to have a little coming to Jesus conversation (also had to reach through the phone and slap him upside the head alittle), in which I told him that it`s a BROKEN LEG, for God`s sake, and it will HEAL. It is NOT the end of the world, quit acting like it is. Basically, if he wants OUT of where he is, he has to do some work and be able to get up and about so I can take care of him better when he does get here.

So this is where the surprise comes in.....I know everyone wanted him to be "surprised" when he got home, but I am thinking maybe it`s time he was told about it. It might give him a little inspiration to be more determined to get himself progressed and get out of there. I will still take the video camera over there and film him when he finds out, and I also think he will be just as "surprised" as if he came home to it.

So I kinda want to take a vote, and see what you all think.  Smiley

I won`t say a word about it to him until I hear from you guys.

Hi Glo,

As for the slow healing I attribute Age as a Factor there, older we get the slower things happen I remember when the doc told my wife and I about my situation felt like the floor dropping out from under me like on a ride at the park I got kinda bummed out there for awhile But Time is a Great healer and it is Tuff Dealing with it till it passes.

Sometimes like you said though a good knock on the noggen is in order I didn't wanna get up either but ya have to...ya gotta move man.

I don't know what to tell you as far as your question, I would give it a bit more time I guess I think an see if it passes my Diana kept after me everyday I don't know how she managed amazed me...an Today I'm up an about this is year number two we're in.

You two are in our prayers here.

All the best

Jack.

I say tell him.  That whole episode was really a disappointment to him, and I can see having the xmitter there would be a big motivation to get his ass in gear and raise his spirits.  Gives him an even bigger target to shoot for!
