I just wanted to let everyone know what is happening with Tim right now.....

We went to Roanoke last Friday for his consult with a new radiology oncologist. We were in the waiting room, and his name was called to go back for his appointment. As he was in the process of standing up, he started screaming in pain and fell to the floor. His ankle had broken in 3 places. He was taken by ambulance across the street to their hospital, where he was admitted and had surgery Friday night to repair the break. They put in a plate and some screws, and the next day his surgeon told him he has osteoporosis from the steroids he has been taking for the last 4 years. Needless to say the cancer appointment got put on hold.

He will be in the hospital there for at least a week, maybe even 2, and then they want to send him to some sort of nursing rehab facility; where, they don`t yet know. He may not be able to come home for 3 months.

I am not going to post constant updates here, so anyone who wants his contact info can pm him or post on his blog and I will gladly get you that info.

Aw, that's a real kick in the teeth...

Glo, give him my very best, and hopes that he gets thru this challenge like he did the last!

What worries me the most is that treatment for the brain cancer recurrence, which he described as "fast growing", keeps getting delayed by one obstacle after another.   Sad

Stabilize the break, plenty of painkillers and roll him right into the cancer work.

Those docs sound like all they care about is covering their asses.

Glo,
Thanks for letting us know Derb's situation.  I will check the blog often to keep updated on his progress and naturally we all hope for the very best.

I am curious if the BC rig got moved down from Fred's location?

Take good care of yourself so you can take care of Derb.  I know you will.

Hang in....

Derb as you're layin' there, it might help to think about happier times -- like the fun we had out at Dobbins Island, hanging out with the radios, camping with a generator and lotsa good food.

Here's hoping you'll recuperate real soon.

Something that might work wonders for his recovery would be if he found the RAYtheon moved to his QTH, ready to set up in his station, the day he returned home.

Wow..  I was sitting here today bored out of my mind trying to recover from a horrible cold and I thought about Derb twice. I was wondering where he was and why there where no posts from him.  Now I read this.

Let him know we are all thinking about his speedy recovery!
