indeed.. Not all are created equal. I found these useful so as to better match the various rectifiers to the application.

I also have a 1N42. This is an octal based device similar in appearance to a 6H6. I have not specifically found the datasheet for it.

The regular 1N42 seems also to be a standard germanium rectifier 115V 12.8mA in a DO- case. Plenty of sheets on that version, but none so far on the tubular one.
