Pretty soon the elegant pines in NH will have some boatanchors like this sitting under them! These two are coming for a ride. I hope to be selling this year with my old buddy WA1QHQ Mark. It has been about 5 years since we set up a tarp!

Nice looking receivers, Mike. Always wanted a nice SX-42 but have managed to resist the urge (so far). Maybe I'll run into you this time now that I know what will be on your table.

If anyone is in the market, I'll have an original Hallicrafters SX-28 cabinet for sale, including the aluminum trim strips but missing the bottom plate. A hard cabinet to find since so many in use today were originally rack-mounted.

Just a few more days until the fun begins again. This has to be one of the best ways to kick off the spring/summer season.

The safecracker dial on the 42 is downright cool...

About 12" of snow coming in the hills tonight. I'll be there Friday with a shopping list and also bringing a couple of restorations to be picked up.

I'm getting ready to load up here and head for HUZ HQ soon, looking forward to seeing the crew again Friday. WX does indeed look great for the 'fest, not good for the next few days. Just fired off a posting to a bunch of the radio lists reminding folks that it takes place this weekend, since we're normally on the first FULL weekend of May.

October was downright brutal at times. Carl, it's your job to keep the snow and cold away this time.  Grin

Hi Todd,

I'll buy your SX-28 cabinet. And I'll pay the shipping. However, it should go to Rick. My Dad had an SX-28 that I inherited, but somewhere along the way the cabinet became missing. So gave the rx to Rick, who has it sans cabinet. So for complete restoration we need a cabinet. The rx is in mint condition, and works just like it should. I used SX-28's for four years while with the FCC RID, 1940-1944. Those rx's were the staple for the RID.

Do we have a deal?

Does anyone know where Todd is? I've been emailing him and phoning him for several days, but no response.

He has an SX-28 cabinet for sale that I would like to buy. If anyone can contact Todd, please tell him I want to contact him re the cabinet.

I first learned about the cabinet in his earlier post on this thread, which began as a notice for the Nearfest, but no date was mentioned re the fest. Is it possible he attended the fest, and perhaps sold the cabinet? I'd like to find out. (I'm assuming the fest is over.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I also hope to meet many of the AFfone gang as possible at Dayton. I'll be at the CQ booth with copies of the new edition of my book, Reflections 3.

Walt, I'll look for you at CQ but I may be out in the flea market all the time, I'll have to see.

I think Todd may be at the fest and I think it is going on today and maybe tomorrow?  he may not be reachable unless you can get a phone number for him from someone.

Thanks for the reply, Rob, but I already have his phone number, got it from Switchboard.com. Called him several times, but no answer. So, as you say, he might be at Nearfest. I didn't know the date of that fest.

If your feet get tired at the flea market come on inside and restem at the CQ booth where we can talk, OK? Hope to CU there!

Walt

PS--Where is the Nearfest located?

NEAR-Fest is Apr 30 and May 1. I was there today and saw Todd.  I will be back there tomorrow and if I see him, I will get the message to him.

What an outrageous WX weekend for NEAR-Fest (fka Hosstraders) at the Deerfield NH Fairgrounds. One of the best.  Gonna be in the 80's Sat. here in New Hampsha.   In the past we have suffered through many rainy and cold 'fests.

Walt, sorry for the confusion but I've been on the road since last Tuesday as indicated in the post Pete quoted. Originally from VT, I'm now living in NC. As a result, the trip to Deerfield NH is a bit more protracted than when I lived less than 2 hours from the fairgrounds. Got home yesterday, been recovering since!

I'll drop you an email.
