Good show, Paul.  Nothing like a strapping installation.

Thanks Tom!

Yes, replace the rope with a flexible 3/16" wire stainless steel braided cable. Even galvanized is OK.  Hopefully the pulley is of high quality and designed to handle the wire cable, otherwise the cable could get caught in the pulley track.

Actually, I have attached the pulley itself, through a loop at the mast top, with the 5/16" rope, so I can also lower the pulley, or use it to lower the antenna for NVIS work or ??  The end of the antenna has a dog bone insulator, then also to 5/16" rope which nicely rolls over the aluminum pulley. I will leave that as it as it has worked for 5 years now without issue.  I use a small car battery as a weight on the end of the antenna rope, to keep constant tension on the antenna so the whole antenna is free at the mast end and can absorb any wind motion.

cheers

Paul
