I wonder if anyone has received a 1X1 since Jan 12th when Steve spoke with that reluctant ARRL person?  I applied earlier on the same day and have not heard a peep. (I applied thru the ARRL, unfortunately)

5 days and still waiting!

I'm there! (W7S) I somebody, I'm somebody!

I'm in the phone book too.

PS  I originally went through the arrl and got NO response.  I tried again through W5YI-VEC and he replied promptly.  He would only issue the call for the days of the event.

Some of the 1 X 1 Callsign coordinators SUCK! Angry  For the Heavy Metal Rally I applied for K7K thru Laurel Amateur Radio Club. After two weeks it still was not issued. Then applied thru W5YI and it was appoved within one day, but a couple weeks later my 1X1 dissapeared and was later reissued to another ham?HuhHuhHuh?

For the AM Transmitter Rally, I went straight to W5YI and tried to get the 1X1 for a week or so. At least it was issued for Feb. 6th & 7th.

I'll be on the air no matter which call I have to use. Idiots will not stop me from using AM.

Dig this -

I applied 20 minutes ago to W5YI and just got the approval back for K1J. In contrast, I haven't heard a word from the original ARRL application sent in SEVEN days ago. Screw them and the horse they...

W5YI:
"The event you are requesting is a 2 day event, February 6/7,  according to the event sponsors.  We have approved your request for the duration of the event.
AM Transmitter Rally Feb. 6 on HF:"

BTW, they confirmed it with an email. Good operation.
Thank you W5YI!

Sounds (whether it's true or not) like some folks are talking it upon themselves to pass judgment on the validity of an application.   I go back to my belief that that should be the FCC's business and no one else's.

There are some  things that the FCC really has to start managing again.  There is simply too much potential for partiality and conflict of interest if hams manage ham regulatory affairs.

actually, in every 'organized' ham klub I have been a member of that's all that I have seen on display. Along with a lot of egos.

It   IS  up to them ( the 5 VEC organizations that can assign the 1x1's)  to determine whether or not you can have the call.
It's just that one or two of the organizations are more into playing god with them..

The FCC doesn't want to deal with daily screwing around with this type of doling out calls.

Though I agree completely they should deal with it.

W5YI is the bomb! I got sick of waiting for the ARRL as well. It's only been 10 days. No word, nothing. W5YI-VEC got it done in about an hour. Look for W8A on February 6 and 7.

I used W5YI, figured they would get er done.

ARRL I suspect has a bad case of "not invented here" syndrome.

one thing - I dont get why you would have wanted he call issued for anymore than 1 day since it says that the calls r good for 15 days. I read that on he 1x1 site and said oh ok, just issue it for the start of the event and it will take care of itself.

"Your request for a 1x1 is being denied. It seems that you have requested the same 1x1 for the same event."

TEN days after the application  I get this from the ARRL.  This is after getting the W5YI approval in 20 minutes.  I was gonna send them a nasty response, but decided they are hopeless - not worth the effort.  I already have the callsign for the event and that's it.

Funny, I received my email from the league today telling me the call W8B was approved. They changed the dates requested (15 days) to the 6th and 7th only. Problem is I requested an alternate call, W8A from W5YI and was approved. Now I have two event call signs. I guess I'm special. Grin

I wrote a reply to the league and thanked them. I asked that they cancel the W8B call. It took about two weeks to hear anything at all from them. I figured my request had been denied. I told them so in the email. If I do this again I'll use W5YI/VEC first.

Yup....thanks!  I saw those.  Search on dates, not event to get them all.
I'm still wondering about W27, I guess that is a typo, but not sure what the correct call sign is supposed to be.

Sorry Buddly. It's hard to aim at a moving target. I tell ya what, I'll sell ya W8B. It's unused in the original box. I haven't opened it and it hasn't been abused as far as I can tell. I have no way of testing it because I don't know how but I'll give a full refund if not satisfied. You only have to pay a really ridiculous return shipping price. Grin

I'll pass on the offer Mike. We didn't budget for that additional expense.
Besides, I just checked and W8C is in my pocket!
Thanks for the offer Pal.
