As seen in a Cat's Diary:

 Day 183 of my Captivity...

My Captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat,
while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the
mild satisfaction I get ruining the occasional piece of furniture.

Tomorrow I may eat another house plant. Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded -- mental note to try this at the top of the stairs next time.

In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their Favorite chair -- must try this on their bed. Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in an attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to Strike Fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended what a good little Cat I was. Hmmmmm, not working according to plan.

There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in Solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and the smell of Food. More importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.

I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The Dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The Bird on the other hand has got to be an informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured.

But I can wait, it is only a matter of time......

Perfect thread after the morning I had with our cat
She was walking, jumping and making a racket at 4:30 this morning wanting to be fed. XLY finally got up and fed her 10 minutes before her alarm goes off. I get up later so when XYL came in at 6:00 to get me up the cat was at my feet crashed out for her after breakfast nap. Good thing she is so cute.

LOL.. I laughed at this one.. Great post.    Toby the dog acts almost exactly like described.. Sophia the 12 year old Torbie cat, is exactly like the poem, only she searches the house for any source of heat.  I walked in to find her like this:

Haha.. Check out this..  I turned on the Globe Champ300 to warm up for the AMI net.  Came in to find this..  This just cant be good.. I cannot tought that case top for more then 2 seconds. Somehow, The cat just lays there..

Don't you wish people were more like dogs.

As a geologist I very often bring the car to a sudden stop along the road when I spot some interesting rocks along the side of the road. I need to check them out.

The family is going ,"Why are you stopping?" I reply," To check out those rocks back there."
To which I get that old sigh of, "Not Again."

However, my last dog Sarah would leap from the car, checking out everything along the side of the road. Ms. enthusiasm, not interested in the rocks like me, but smelling everything, and following trails. I always wondered what it was she smelled, but I wished I could have maintained that level of ethusiasm  and interest in life every day and all the time.

Just watching a dog get excited about doing simple things brightens up your life.

Makes you think we should live more in the present, than worrying about the past and future.

She found me at my camp two years ago starving to death. I Took her in and she has made a fine pet for me.

Well, since we're doing cat pictures, here are my little monsters. The one flat on her back is just back from being spayed, so she's got the shaved belly. The big gray one is her litter mate. I didn't pose them, that's how I found them.



I need a bigger bed, we're getting crowded out by the cats on cold nights!

Hey Frank, when you have some serious aluminum in the air the birds aren't so cute. They are nothing more than pooping machines!

Now predatory birds are another story... they serve a purpose. Last spring I had a pair of horned owls that would visit my upper 10 meter beam throughout the night. Evidence showed they were eating squirrels. This is a good thing! They get a pass.

Owls are cool. They are not afraid to fly at night in the rain. At least a hoot owl isn't.

In the Albany, NY area we get huge flocks of Starlings. Sometimes they roost on bridge beams. I have discovered that if you blow your horn, they will all take off defecating upon launch. The time to blow your horn is when you are directly under them and then the guy behind you gets pasted with sh+t. Try it, it's a lot of fun

We've got several hoot owls around here. Huge things, I was coming home from work one morning before daybreak and one took off right in front of my truck, its wingspan was as wide as the windshield. They've taken to sitting up the radio tower and hooting to each other.

We don't let the cats go outside..Or the little terrier without supervision at night.
