Brian, the Johnson inductor is pretty much the same coil stock as the broadcast inductor--they're both edge wound silver plate--the bc inductor has more turns and is variable but the comparison is apples and oranges--have you ever tried to construct a link coupled roller inductor?

But the bottom coil is not a link coupled unit. THIS is a link coupled tuner!

I've torn apart more than one Johnson KW matchbox for parts and then throw everything away except for the caps. Well.., I did keep one piss-weak Johnson coil.

See the piss-weak coil below compared to a REAL coil from a broadcast xmtr Grin

Next time you do that, let me know, I will be happy to come dig those piss-weak Johnson parts out of the trash can.  Smiley

I'm getting ready to buy another mainly for the two big knobs.

What's this world coming too? Shooting at tubes, tearing equipment apart just for the KNOBS Huh Huh

If you were here in Upstate, NY, the KNOB POLICE would be after you. Be careful visiting other states where the may also have KNOB POLICE

On my Westinghouse MW-2, it may go to the Westinghouse museum, it not I want Steve KC2JXX to get it. The rest of the stuff can go on ebay so I can will the money to my grand son for his worm farm.

the guy with the huge tuna looks like a cb'er showing off his new 24 pill Monkey Made.  Cool

What was not said was is he's using that tuner with his Ten Tec Argonaut 5 watter, for the efficiency. Can't afford to waste a milliwatt!

everyone thinks he's running xtra power - you just dont understand the QRP mind.  Tongue

Hey Brian, next time you trash a KW Matchbox just send the parts you don't want over to me.  I'll pay you for the shipping.  Since I'm not running over 700 w. I'll be able to use them  Cheesy
