John was a gem all right, a very fine business old time ham.
I've been fortunate to know two fellows like that, my elmer W2UJR and John W1FPZ.
Learned a lot from both, and not just all about radio, also about life.
Now you know where my call sign came from.
I've got another of John's works on the bench now, a 1930s vintage Gross CB-25 transmitter, sent all the sheet metal out
for powder coating this week. Once its done I'm hoping to recreate the station in the ad below for the 2009 AWA Fall Conference.
