CW is just a narrower version of AM

Hey I was on my little mobile ARC-5 station today, while bringing back my "fuel filter replaced" car from the Alburg Garage in Vermont.

I worked Brent, Bear and Bob.

If 15 Watts to the worst antenna ever devised for a car can work on AM mobile, there must be a way for you to get on the Little PW Mobubble bandwagon.

Let's see some pics!

Hi Mike,

I've see that picture (of the radio) before, Your boat anchor mobile is beyond cool but your significant other must have really skinny legs.

Your antenna has me wondering. I see what looks like a loading coil under the Hustler loading coil. What is that? I never saw that done and the top hat is interesting as well. I used a Texas Bug Catcher for a long time so I recognize what your doing, How dose it work? Dose wind load push the magnet off?

Absolutely the magnet would never hold!  - so I have support monofillment that goes into the seatbelt hooks and a rear one that goes into the trunk on a bungee that keeps it from flipping. A tri-magnet base is a better deal for such a kluge!

The Hustler tip calls for a 6 ft mast under it and abbreviating this to a couple of feet of PVC called for a helical wind. Let me say that the tuning of such a beast is so sharp that you must re-tune the whip every 10 kc.

Is this the worst efficiency 75 Meter mobile antenna? Perhaps, but I still get out with 15 Watts. This gives all who see it hope.
