Well there is nothing like Starting A project to keep you inside in the winter. Even though it has been a mild winter in NC I just had to go and Do it..again....
Plans are as of right now to use a  2X572B modulations deck already built and see how it goes...

Nice work on the 813's... How much voltage on the plates?  Those tubes would really look great up front where you could see them....

Man, nothing like a virgin chassis...
I like your progress pictures and that rotary coil is sharp. Looks like it'll tune 160 nicely.

Lot's of fun ahead of you.

"-- and miles to go before I sleep."

Looks familiar, you've gotten a great start.
813's are really versatile tubes.

Hello Rick and Mack , It's not too bad . A friend of mine owns the Local sheet metal Shop Which is about 3 miles from me. Long story short 1/8" 19X14 aluminum front panel 17X14X4 chassis with Bottom cover for $50.00 I just got to build something..
I have been  thinking about this transmitter since last year and thought I had it all planed out until I got started and have already changed my mind on things a bunch. I suppose that's the fun of it..  Undecided    Tim...WD4TC...

Yeah, I know what you mean about changing your mind.

Quite the opposite of Frank who likes to build 'em non-stop (and has produced the acclaimed 4x1 as the proud result, )   I find that if I sleep on stuff a couple of nights, (ok then, months?) things like layout, home-brew resistors, you name it just pop up in my mind much better than original plan. The ol' subconscious, I suppose.  And if I've forgotten something essential, a few pix of construction along the way brings good comments.

I bought my chassis from Hammond, but the case, grills, panels 'n stuff were gratis from an old card cage.  It's pretty obvious in my 813 pix that the chassis has an overhang out the rear...   but not bad looking, almost planned.  Anyway nothing went together easily. Ended up with several different types of fasteners, etc. but I hate to have something useful sitting around even if it's a half built case when it can be modified and put to good use.

So have fun! Your on your way.

Your right Rick, If I stop too long I get to the point where I put it off until Later ! Much later. This transmitter is being built with Spare/found /free, whatever parts all I bought is chassis and  front panel so it may not be the best looking piece but a working transmitter..I Hope.I still don't know if I should put windows in the front or Not ? I think It's going to use one of my Rangers for a exciter maybe they will get some use...I made some good  progress this weekend I think....Tim..WD4TC
