Where did I ever say ANY of that, THom?  Just indicating my complete lack of interest in the event.

No, you didn't, but you weren't the only person I quoted. I could have responded to each of you individually and really dragged the thread out, but I figured I'd respond to the trend as whole.

I just tought it was amusing that so many guys would even read let alone get into a thread about football just to say they've got better things to do than pay attention to football (some of them twice).

Lots of threads around here that have nothing to do with football (all of them except this one, for example). Nobody's forcing anything on anyone, you joined the thread of your own free will.

Here comes the game.

Good luck to all, may the best team win.

See you when it's over.

I hope the Yankees win... I turned on the half time to watch Tom Petty, now that was good.

I never cared for football and if I want to watch grown men beat each other up over a game or pretty much any other thing I can get that here. Grin

18-1. But the ONE is the ONE that really counted. Oh well, so much for the best team ever.

Congratulations to the New York Giants!

They earned their victory tonight, no question. That was one hell of a competition, they won it with class, and they deserved it.

It's not about "a bunch of guys beating each other up", it's not about being "perfect", it's not about "a bunch of dumb jocks", the halftime show, the commercials, or any of that. To focus on that is missing the whole idea of rising to a challenge, and conquering it.

For some of us, that challenge is building that dream rig we always wanted but never thought we could have, fixing that old car nobody ever thought would ever run again, or even raising a family is challenge enough in today's world. Everything we do in life is a challenge, our integrity is defined by how we meet those challenges.

So let the hecklers have their fun. If they can't appreciate how one person's struggle is no more or less valid than another's, it's their loss.

Congratulations to the New York Giants, for doing what everyone told them they weren't good enough to do, and never giving up until they did it.

If that's not the definition of class, I don't know what is.

Ah, yes! The Hanson brothers. Actually two of them are brothers in real life, Carlson (Jeff and Steve). The other dude, the one on the left was named Dave Hanson. There was a third Carlson brother in real life. He was playing in the WHL at the time. The other two were still in the minors, playing for the Johnstown Jets. The movie was based on that team and filmed in that town.

I'm still not through with my case of beer.............. I'm not suffering for sure. i have been around long enough to bear defeat. It does not hurt so bad to have the Giants to win because of the influence they had  on New New England.
