I showed a picture of the BC-652 Tank receiver. Well that old rig fired up and with a little lube and a tuneup, I put it online with my ARC-5 transmitter, dynamotor screaming. I tuned it up to 3570 and called CQ on Tuesday night.

A big slow CW signal comes right back - N1EPL Rob. I was going to tell Rob about my historic station when he mentions that he is transmitting from Radio 2 deep within the USS Massachusetts which is tied up in Fall River. He is using a TBK transmitter and an RBB receiver.

W8AU, Perry breaks in - he is on the Mississsippi on a WW2 LST! It turns out that they had a scheduled WW2 CW round up of sorts going on.

You never know...

Well I got the second gem from Deerfield on the air, the ARC-2A transceiver.
I made a couple of CW contacts on it. 35 Watts out on CW and 25 on phone with no tune up of the lower stages - not bad for a 1950 vintage rig right off the Deerfield ground..

This is probably Collins first XCVR. It does AM, MCW and CW. This would probably be a cool mobile rig. It is a pair of 1625's modulated by a pair of 1625's. The conversion to 12V would be a mess however because of all of the 24V relays. A better approach would be to make 24 VDC for the tube fils and relays (and autotune - it memorizes 8 channels).
Then you just need 270V and 500 V which you can get with the common Heath
Mobile supply rewired with a bridge.

The audio could be beefed up as well as the power and it loads into about anything.

Practically installed it could live in the trunk and with a flick of a control box switch in the pilots ER I mean the drivers seat you could do 3725, 3820, 3880, 3885, 3890, 7190 and so on.
