Derb, I hope you enjoyed the GSB-201 jpegs from last Spring. Amp was well preserved.
The Gimmick Cap. was missing when I got amp. I kept the Tune/Operate resistor and pi network so RF deck still appears original. Although the new filter caps are under the deck, the seperate transformers (plate & filament w/CT) resembl original layout of inductor next to stock transformer. Almost ready for the 572b's.
Trying to preserve original meter circuits. What is the Gimmick Cap? The former owner wired directly to output at Ant Relay

Can I make one? Will it work wired directly?
What did you use on your Gonset GSB-201 meter circuit?

IIRC on the 201 I rebuilt for a friend, the gimmick (and on most any amplifier / transmitter of the age) is nothing more than twisted pair. Take two wires, red and white for clarity, and twist them about 5 TPI, about 3/4 to an inch long.
Do NOT connect any part of the gimick to short. Red wire goes to TX out on ant relay (or anywhere else RF Out can be measured AFTER the tank circuit), white wire goes to the metering circuit.
Clip enough of the 'gimmick' cap off to get full scale deflection at Pout Max.
That's all the gimmicks are. They took the place of expensive variable caps and bridge circuits to make SIMPLE Pout metering.
