Title: VOA Dixon, CA
Post by: W3SLK on June 30, 2006, 05:42:24 PM
A friend of mine tipped me off about this article. It looks as though it was well written and pretty informative. I think there needs to be a sequel though. Too many blank spaces/questions.

I think I found the Delano site that was mentioned in the story. Go to the Google maps site. Use the satellite view.

Look at the big BROWN square to the left of town about a mile and down about a mile or so. You can zoom right down to see the towers and the building.

Not having as much luck with the Dixon site though.

If you get the quarter screen response hit refresh for the full screen

Hi:

Way Cool!

I heard from the Veterans VOA people at Dayton (and someone who spoke with a VOA engineer) that the VOA is shutting down many (most??) of their HF transmitters this year.

The history could go quickly. We (and I would LOVE TO) should try to get access and document what we can.

I am always interested in old recordings.
