the vikers (as well as valiant and ranger): The "drive pot" that adjusts the screen voltage on the driver toob to set the grid drive to the final, often fails due to the fact that it is under rated for the power it must dissipate. Sometimes before they actually fail, they can get mushy/flaky and cause a loss of grid drive. A good way to prevent the failure is to put a 10K resistor in series with the drive pot.
