Love it......beats the shi- out of the usual crap u see.

The fridge kicks on and the lights get brghter.  Yeah, that would be interesting.

Watching that video I was waiting for the place to go up in flames.  Well, if that video isn't faked, it'd be interesting to hear how it's controlled.  It was sure entertaining though.  I doubt the neighbours would be amused.  I like the peace sign.

And no need for epilepsy, that light show would cause seizures in a non-epileptic.

There was some discussion on a newsgroup about the control method the person employed.  If you do a google newsgroup search using keywords "wizards of winter" you'll find the discussions.  Wizards of Winter played by (I think) the Siberian Express Orchestra is the name of the tune that is playing if anyone is interested in knowing the tidbit of info. My guess is this setup, if it is real, probably works like the old color organ only with a lot more channels and somesort of processor controller.

Very cool!!!! probably some sort of PC based light sequencer... unless its a bunch of still shots pasted together with a video editing program.

Just occured to me, there are several companies that make MIDI controlled lighting devices. Basically, relays controlled by MIDI note on/off messages. Good chance that's what he's using.

You're probably right about that.  It stands to reason with they way a lot of rock concerts sequence their lighting. The behavior is very similar.

The rest of the story, according to the AP.

The home, located in Mason, Ohio, north of Cincinnati, is decorated with about 25,000 lights. It took Carson Williams, an EE with Cincinnati Bell Technology Solutions, nearly two months to put up the lights this year. 

This is the third holiday season he and his wife have decorated their home with lights synchronized to move and flash with music.  According to Williams, it takes about an hour to program each minute of the light show.

Williams uses a low power FM transmitter so neighbors and passersby can listen to the music to which the light display is synchronized.  A sign outside the home tells people where to tune to hear the music.  Each evening, hundreds of cars drive by to watch the light show. 

Williams says he's told his neighbors and the police that if anyone complains about the light display, he will stop operating it.  Apparently no one has complained so far.

Just heard on CNN news this morning on way to work - He turned off his light show after there were traffic jams and a wreck(s) in front of his house. It didn't say if it was voluntary or not.

Anyway, I've got a strand of whie lights hoisted up the side
of the tower, with a 100-watt green bulb at the top.
You can see it for miles.
Hoping no one tries to land a plane on the roof...
