Thanks Gary -- the writing is entirely G-Type Paul's and your front page of it is the first I've seen it.
Excellent sendup.
Paul ( G-Type) recounted some of the excellent light show we enjoyed on the lighthouse.
Here's some of what we saw...

Impressive doesn't begin to describe it, Mike.  I'm still trying to picture what it was like on the sailboats. Paul C-type's photo series of the lightning should have been included with the article but -- mea culpa -- I'd forgotten he'd grabbed the shots.

We should have made an audio recording of the 10,000 microVolt whine from all that energy in the air which was heard on the feedline pigtails after we threw the antenna connection overboard. Quick, grab the cordless screwdriver....
FB article Paul.

Yep.  It's a little known fact that a single helping of Spam contains 23,000% of the recommended daily allowance of sodium.

For all those who made this event become a reality...Excellent job!

That is my idea of an amateur radio expedition.

Congrats!

Brian, what made the trip was a tremendous sense of history and tradition.

Paul, G-Type, alluded to a portion of it with his reference to a "small microwave oven that also made the journey out to the lighthouse."

This is none other than the INR unit making the rounds since 1992 or so, purloined from Michelle's kitchen for the Dobbins Island AM Expedition, to several AM Festival Stations, to the original K3L AM Expedition, and now returned from its latest journey and ready for the next.

Here, it can be seen behind our Lt. Rick Wester of the U.S. Coast Guard, whose face shows obvious delight at a heated, tasty, prepackaged meal. Tom, ILA didn't follow directions and was probing several temperature differentials.

If you're on a big pipe, we are planning to add these JPEGs to the TPL K3L-II story site.

File size ranges up to 2M, because they're the "master" images out of the camera, not reprocessed/resized.

Except for this one:

also an "eight" in parenthesis  but it won't show correctly here.

Lighthouse auction delivers dreams, suspense

UNDATED (AP) -- Four Virginia lighthouses put on the auction
block by the federal government are now in private hands.
The beacons will still warn ships away from shallow water, but
they'll also have private addresses.
One will be a family retreat and a front-row seat for sailing
regattas. Another will a tourist attraction.
The four were put up for sale in late August and auction wrapped
up on October 21st.
According to the General Services Administration, the Newport
News Middleground lighthouse -- near the mouth of the James River
-- sold for 31-thousand dollars to Robert Gonsoulin of
Williamsburg, whose family will use it for retreats.

The Thimble Shoal lighthouse is near the Chesapeake Bay
Bridge-Tunnel and sold for 65-thousand dollars to Peter Jurewicz of
Smithfield. He's not sure what he'll do with it.

------------

The Wolf Trap lighthouse, in the Chesapeake Bay near Mathews
County, sold for 75-thousand dollars to Nick Korstad of North
Plains, Oregon. He wants to make it a tourist attraction.

-------------

The Smith Point lighthouse, in the Bay near the Potomac River,
sold for 170-thousand dollars to David McNally. The G-S-A released
only his name.
