Title: Cooked Maple Post by: W2VW on August 28, 2005, 10:25:57 AM Back in 1990, my neighbor reported seeing lightening in the back yard while there were no storms. Here was the problem. Voltage end of dipole too close to maple tree. Only arced on audio peaks.

Title: Re: Cooked Maple Post by: W2VW on September 11, 2005, 09:50:49 AM Ever notice that there is always some moron asking "How Much Power Were You Running Anyway?" Not too many have seen this who don't already own a few themselves. In the interest of science the answer is 1500 Watts P.E.P. 180 Watts carrier. Or a pair of 3-500Z's powered by a T368 plate transformer. As you know, it doesn't take a whole lot of power to do this.
