Title: New phonetic alphabet, need help Post by: K6JEK on August 17, 2005, 07:59:26 PM I was inspired by hearing someone use this phonetic over the phone: "k as in knight" Isn't that great? I think it's time we had our own, more subtle, more sophisticated phonetics. Here's what I've come up so far. I would like suggestions for the other letters or better suggestions for the ones I have:
A aria C cue E euphoria H honest G gnat K knight M Mnemonic (a bit too obscure, I think) O oenophile P psychology, or pneumonia Q quay W whore (my son came up with this and challenged me to find a less crude improvement on it) X xylophone Y you Jon, K6JEK Title: Re: New phonetic alphabet, need help Post by: K1JJ on August 18, 2005, 01:31:46 AM That's pretty funny stuff.
It reminds me of the DX guys who use "Canada" for C. I always write down a "K'. Off hand, I went through your missing letters and didn't think of any silent letter words. Probably the thing to do is look through a dictionary for each letter and try to pull out a few more.
