The transmitter was originally designed back in the mid 1930's.  Used a quad of 204A's in p-p parallel, modulated by a pair of 849's.  Later, changed to 833A's in pushpull modulated by another pair.  Later version used parallel tubes in final.  This was the standard RCA 1 KW for years.

Triode were later superseded with 4-400's modulated by another pair in class AB1.

There were some of these in SC, and the predecessor with multiple cases.  The 1 MX was replaced by the BTA 1R series with 4-400's.


Barnwell SC WBAW had one and WDOG Barnwell SC had one.
