Title: Heathkit DX-60 Carrier Level Mod Help
Post by: n8yhy on July 10, 2005, 10:21:47 AM
I was looking at the Mod for the DX-60 by Bill WC3K to put a Carrier RF
Level control in the Heathkit DX-60..Well I was wondering if any one has
performed this modification on there DX-60..The question I have is about
the Potentiometer, Bill shows in his Schematic a New 50/2W
Potentiometer..I think the 50/2W is a Potentiometer but I am not sure
and is it a 50 ohm or a 50K Potentiometer?? If any one can help me with
this please do as I am wanting to put a Carrier Level Control in my
DX-60A...Thanks Chris N8YHY n8yhy@sbcglobal.net

Here is Bill's DX-60 Schematic showing the mod

It's definitely not 50 ohms.  Gotta be 50K with an omission typo.  The original fixed resistor there was 33K 2W.

I also suggest a larger value for C36, like 1uF to 10uF, 100V, positive toward pin 9 of the 6DE7.  The original value was 0.1uF, and I suspect that the 0.01uF value shown is another typo.  Also use a D-104 crystal mike, or external audio processing.
