Title: Needed - Source for replacement IF Transformer
Post by: W8EJO on July 04, 2005, 03:05:31 PM
I am attempting to repair an old TMC GPR90. The 3rd IF has a bad 455kc IF transformer and I need  a replacement.

Specs are 95 micro henry;  Can size is H= 2 3/4" x W= 1 3/8" x D= 1 3/8";
Q=82.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you cant find one, and your feeling adventurous, you could make one per Harry Lytholl:

Harry's got a great site to browse.

Are you sure it's not repairable? I've been able to repair almost every bad IFT I've encountered. Check the windings where they terminate. This is a very common failure point. Even if everything looks okay,  reterminate them. Also check the fixed capacitors to be sure they aren't bad. If everthing else fails, get a K-tran replacement and install it in the old can. No one will know the difference.

Good Luck,
