Title: RBC receiver info needed
Post by: MICHAEL on July 03, 2005, 09:26:41 AM
Gentlemen: I have a RBB/RBC receiver setup that I need to figure out how to put on standby mode while going to transmit mode. I down loaded the available info from BAMA. I did not find this information there. If any one could help I would appreciate it. Also I would like to know about the cathode follower circuit and how it works.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Michael,
I have the RBA/RBB/RBC receiver lineup, and to my knowledge there was never a muting feature with any of them. My RBB was converted from a 2 to a 5 variant when overhauled at the Philadelphia Navy Yard in 1961 and "updated" with revisions. Unfortunately adding a mute wasn't one of them - hi!

My suggestion would be to install a switch to manually disable B+, or insert something in the speaker output to disable the speaker.

I did it the "cheap and dirty" way by just turning the AF gain down whenever I transmit.

Joe, thanks for the suggestions. I have the B and C units plus the power supply. To bad they did not design the power supply with two transformers. Then it would have been easy.
