ground hog in the back yard ate 1/2 my garden for Dad's day.
Have a heart trap set for him tonight. Prefer a have a heart 22 short
but neighbors would call the man.
2 years in a row now he needs to sleep with the fishes.

Speaking Of Francis,

 I just picked up a Henry .17 Cal [Dads day present] :D,  lever action rifle for that very reason, here we have the same problem, and wanting something a little different from a standard .22 I'm finding it is quite a nice piece to have around.

The little mo fo has a wife. Both were at the base of the tower this morning looking at me while I dressed. I could have hit them with a rock.
They have not discovered the trap yet but XYL is picking up better bait
today.

Have you tried powdered  dried blood form the garden center? Run rings around the garden plants with it. Keeps varmints away and fertilizes too.
Too bad they don't make stuff like this for slopbuckets.

Well I'm right smack dab in the middle of three farms here, and woodchuckness is plentyful here.. boy and the farmers Hate em :D Man o man, out the ridge here the fellas have a New IH/Case Tractor with Cab Air and all the goodies and man they broke a tie-rod end on the front and i was passing by and gave them a hand boy they were m/fing that ground hog hole just past the rear tire, so they went got a part i helped the one boy tear off the remains of the broken one off and helped put the new one on, they let me climb up in the cab of that thing chit man they had a full blown stereo in that cab and enough levers and rods in it that I didn't know where i was Nothing like the M's and H's Dad had... :D

Had a great Dad's Day with my oldest Son at Mt. St. Helens. He pointed out to me all the places he has hiked and helicopterd into the crater. Sure is an interesting way to make a living!

Relocated the mo fo to a new home. He sure seemed to like the new digs.
Set up the trap and today the other bugger has a new friend. again 2 looking in the bed room window as I dressed. OM offered his high powered bb rifle. OH a 22 short would make it so easy. OM has this nice 15 shot ruger with a red dot scope. I can cut a straight line in a target at 75 feet.

I had one under the shed a few years ago.  Stopped up all the holes I could find except one with old rags, and backed the truck up to that one hole, attached a flexible hose to the exhaust pipe, inserted it into the hole as far as I could, stuffed more rags around the flexible hose, started up the engine and let it idle for about 1/2 hour.

Also used one of the holes to dump kitty shitter tray for a long period of time. Poured some old gasoline (that smelt like varnish) down the hole.  Haven't seen any activity around the holes lately.

I recall about 15 years ago, I dumped 5 gal. of gasoline down a groundhog hole, followed by a lit match.  Should have done it at night.  Looked like a couple of miniature volcanoes spurting flame out of two holes, like blowtorches.  I don't think the woodchucks survived.

Must be about the most useless animal on earth.

I was thinking of the CO thing but gas is out of the question. 1 hole is close to the house.  I flooded the hole twice now with no effect.
Oh well maybe one will go into the trap again today. I still have thew bb gun option.

Out here in Ohio farm country we've found a good use for them.......
