Imagining the whoosh the guy on the tower must have heard every time that hook-block passed by.

Obviously someone screwed up in 'size-up' department! I don't know if the winds were blowing or not but it looked as though that tower exceeded the weight rating for the crane at that extension.

OSHA gonna have a field day with that mess.

That crane was so overloaded it was flexing!

Redneck engineering at its worst.

At a previous job, we all had to go through forklift certification. As is often the case with such training, they showed us plenty of "don't do this" pictures, like the one below. The problem is that, whether it's forklifts, cranes, or any other heavy equipment, expediency often pushes aside common sense, and people do stupid things.

I don't know if I'm imagining it but it looks like the middle part of the lower section has guy wires on it. I can't believe that is free standing so maybe I'm not imagining it. It is amazing that the falling section didn't hit a guy wire.  Then there is the swinging ball at the end of the crane.  What a stupid mess.

Those are tag lines.  At least they appear to be on the phone screen.

I did think that the "get off the tower!" title was absurd. Really? How's that going to work out? He's most certainly all harnessed up, as he should be, making for good general safety but at the same time making rapid maneuvers problematic. All the poor guy can do is hang tight until that hook-block stops its wild swinging and hope it doesn't swat him like a gnat. Fortunately, it made only a couple of really close passes before the flexing crane straightened a bit and raised the arc of the block's swing to well above him.
I suppose that whole sequence might make good advertising material for a laundry detergent that promises to "get the stain out."

You are showing your age with that one! ;D When I worked as a shift mechanic at the local pharmaceutical plant, I was given the opportunity to learn how to operate our JCB 535 Teleporter. I was happy to use that because I know the local farmer has one and I may use it one day to remove boat anchors from my basement. We also had a 40 ton Terex that they wanted me to become certified on. I thought about it and there was too much responsibility to go with it and the company didn't want to pay a premium during operation time so I took a pass on it.
