Title: Suggestions for new transmiiter build Post by: KK7UV on March 27, 2025, 08:05:14 PM As I get my A.M. station back together after a year off the air, I would like to try my hand at a Class E build. I am looking at 10m only, 29.0-29.2 coverage, PWM, and only 100w or so. I have gone thru the WA1QIX page and am getting a handle on the design aspects, but am needing some help on a couple things to start:
How to select an output device? Looks like push-pull MOSFETs are the thing, but I'm lost in knowing how to decide. How do I design the driver and modulator? All I see are high-power designs and I'm not sure how to scale them down for a 100w P.A. Thanks for any advice, Steve KK7UV Title: Re: Suggestions for new transmiiter build Post by: KD6VXI on March 29, 2025, 07:17:21 AM ARF448 in class E. MRF300 in Class E.
My 10 meter deck uses a 448 in class e. 100 watts carrier 120 percent peaks. Designed my own modulator and filter from parts of Steve's designs and others. Ended up with a tx capable of 420 percent positive peaks! Anywhere, those are the devices I wpuld use. Bonus, the 448 only takes one device. Bad part, not made anymore. A pair of mrf300 or mht1803s will have you right where you want to be, though. And they are fairly cheap. And can do 6 meters in the case of the mrf300. --Shane WP2ASS / ex KD6VXI Title: Re: Suggestions for new transmiiter build Post by: KK7UV on March 31, 2025, 06:07:28 PM Thanks for reply Shane. I will look into those options. AMfone - Dedicated to Amplitude Modulation on the Amateur Radio Bands
