Title: Change In ARRgghhL By-laws Post by: W3SLK on January 07, 2024, 01:03:59 PM So this has really stirred up controversy on some of the 'other' forums and I kind of wonder how it is panning out here. I dropped my (be)League(d) membership almost 30 years ago so I don't have a horse in this race. However, I was reconsidering, (at the urging of another AMer), but having read this stuff, I don't think so. From what I understand, they are pushing a lot of members and other perspective members away with this on top of the 'printed QST Fiasco!' I'll post the links so you can read them for yourselves.

The funny part is for Directors and Vice-Directors to yearly and in writing, share their loyalty and acknowledgement of all Board member rules and procedures. Failure to do this in a specified time frame will lead to disqualification probable removal from the board. Current CEO seems to definitely have a bug up his ass and wants to corral all the Directors and Vice-Directors to pledge alliance to the power at the top or "hit the road". I do agree that with the membership fee changes, the implementation was not very well thought through and left a lot of paid up members with a WTF feeling. I'm hoping with the January 2024 BoD meeting, this stuff can be resolved in member's favor that got screwed. As a ARRL member, I'm less concerned how the ARRL CEO or ARRL President cracks the whip with the Directors and Vice-Directors as long as they continue to support the amateur radio hobby domestically and especially in the International arena. If the Directors and Vice-Directors rebel against the Part 46 changes, they can vote to reject the proposal. When the CEO and President terms come up for vote renewal, the Directors can show them the door. Pete, I was going to wait to hear for some others to chime in but I was surprised at your response. I was expecting you usual reply but nothing to this level! If I was still a member I would be pissed on all counts. I understand the need for secrecy regarding inter-personnel matters but in no way would I be in favor of a 'select quorum' to meet behind the other's backs. Then annually take a loyalty oath. I would like to know what the others on here have to say.The funny part is for Directors and Vice-Directors to yearly and in writing, share their loyalty and acknowledgement of all Board member rules and procedures.
