This Hammarlund does not have the poor audio of the HQ-170 & HQ-180 nor the falloff in Dynamic range during the triple conversion HQ-170 & HQ-180 operation (see W1VD tests). The HQ-160 has a slot filter like a notch filter for rejecting heterodynes. Bandpass is about 5KHz. I would replace the 6BA6 RF amp with a 6HR6 for more sensitive receive on 10 meters. |
