Title: CV1090/VT90 & 931 Tube Info
Post by: WA2SQQ on February 06, 2023, 05:06:13 PM
My mom always told me that the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. I just inherited a box of tubes from the estate of a close friend. Found two tubes that I'm really not familiar with. The 1st, which I believe is a CV1090 / VT90 appears to be some sort of radar tube. See photo attached

The second tube (I have two) is a "931" which is a photo multiplier tube. I give up, what were these used for?

Any additional info, on either, would be appreciated!

Google is easy
A photomultiplier tube, electron multiplier tube that utilizes the multiplication of electrons by secondary emission to measure low light intensities. It is useful in television camera tubes, in astronomy to measure intensity of faint stars, and in nuclear studies to detect and measure minute flashes of light.
