A countermeasure to heat related troubles problem on surface mount (and other) boards with large-ish hot parts would be a fan. Wouldn't take much and it could cool the whole product. But it cost a dollar so the bean counters forbid such waste and consumers never benefit from long life no matter how much they pay for products. Not just mechanical cracks develop from overheating and expansion, but circuit boards also discolor and burn. Heat is the enemy!

I’ve been following this guy on YouTube for a few years I know he’s a him but he seems to be very secretive about giving his call or his identity. I’ve learned quite a bit from him. If you like that video you may want to go back and look at his other videos.
