Title: 810's, Penta vs. RCA?
Post by: KD1SH on June 19, 2022, 03:05:11 PM
Thinking of picking up a couple of 810's for a future project. Choice is either RCA or Penta, both NOS. Any opinions?

My thought, too, but they're not cheap anymore. Like the 4-* glass, they used to pretty much give them away with Happy Meals, but those days are behind us.

Get both....

The Audiophools may have discovered the 810, which used to be plentiful. So far they haven't cared much for the 813, which is a good thing.
I discovered four 810's that I'd forgotten about, picked up at a hamfest somewhere. They're RCA's, in the original boxes and wrapping and looking new, though I'm not sure if they really are. No way to tell how good they are until I build a modulator.
If I do decide to buy a few more, I figure I'll go with RCA's, just to match the others.
